UK Fertility Regulator HFEA Seeks New Members for Patient Engagement Forum

Registration to join the Patient Engagement Forum (PEF) is now open. Find out how to apply.
Established in 2021, the Forum is a group of individuals – including patients, supporting partners/parents, surrogates, and prospective parents – who share their views and experiences on specific fertility-related topics.
We are looking for new members to help shape the fertility sector, who will have the opportunity to produce content, review new information for other patients, and provide feedback prior to our website content being published.
Since the Forum was launched, PEF members have been involved in a range of activities, including:
Shaping the new HFEA dashboard
Testing the national patient survey
Sharing ideas for fertility law reform
Shaping the updated HFEA treatment add-ons scoring system
Contributing to content for the HFEA blog and social media channels
Julia Chain, Chair of the HFEA, said: “We know that people’s experiences of fertility treatment vary based on their individual circumstances and it is crucial that this is factored into our work. That is why we established the PEF in 2021, to guide our activities, complement the Patient Organisations Stakeholder Group (POSG), and give you a voice.”
“A key element of our work is providing free, clear, and impartial information about the different types of fertility treatment available in UK clinics, and our current members have played a vital role in supporting this.”

About the Patient Engagement Forum:
There are eligibility criteria that patients, supporting partners/parents, surrogates, and prospective parents must meet to join the Forum. This is to ensure that the views, experiences, and feedback we receive are representative of the current fertility sector.
Members must have a history of fertility treatment in the UK and currently be one of the following:
Planning to undergo treatment or considering it in the next three months
Currently undergoing treatment
Have had treatment in the last two years
Forum members serve a three-year term from January 2027 to the end of December 2029.
