What is PMS

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) refers to a set of physical and emotional symptoms that many women experience before their period. During this period, the woman needs more emotional support and if the symptoms are very severe, she should see a doctor
These symptoms usually occur due to hormonal changes in the body and can include:

Physical symptoms:

flatulence

  • Breast tenderness
  • Headache
  • joint’s pain

Emotional symptoms:

  • Mood swings
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Irritability

The intensity of these symptoms can be different in women and they usually disappear with the onset of menstruation. For some, symptoms can be severe enough to interfere with daily activities, which may indicate a more severe form of PMS known as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

Treatment for PMS can include lifestyle changes, medications, and nutritional supplements. It is always recommended to consult with a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and treatment plan
